The Mayan Flares are made by the ancient lost wax casting technique which involves making a series of molds which the glass is cast into. After the glass is properly cooled in a computer controlled annealer the pieces are ground and polished, and finally sandblasted with an acid-etched surface on the concave. It is a specialty soda-lime glass used in the casting process. |
